AMUNDSEN’S ESTATE.
£3OO DEPOSIT. Roald Amundsen, of Appegaard, Norway, the famous explorer, who died “in the month of June, 1928, in the Arctic Regions,” when in search of General Nobile and the ill-fated Italian airship, left estate in England valued at £349 2s 6d. He died intestate and letters of administration have been granted to the Consul-General for Norway. The latter made the following statement: “I think Amundsen must have placed about £3OO in the hank a good many years ago and then have forgotten all about it. At any rate, the existence of the ,monev only came to light after the explorer’s death. The Midland Bank, with which the money was ‘ t deposited, then notified Mr Amundsen’s relations in Norway.”
