BOWLING.
OPENING OF LEVIN GREEN,
Yesterday afternoon, in ideal weather conditions, the Levin Bowling 'Club held the official opening of their green. The attendance was large, visiting rinlks being present from Palmerston North, Takaro, Shannon (2), Foxton (2) and Otaki: The green played well, and the afternoon was much enjoyed. . Mr. Alex. Cameron, president, welcomed the visitors on behalf of the Club, and subsequently called on ME Goldsmith, /Mayor of Levin, who extended a. welcome on behalf of the citizens.
Mr Stevenson, of Palmerston North Club, returned thanks on behalf of the visiting rinks, and wish • ed Levin Club a successful season.
Mrs Cameron played the first bowl, and the green was formally declared open for play.
The two Foxton rinks were successful in winning their games, the details of which are as follow: —
Mairs, J. Francis, A. Walls, Matter (s) 20; Levin: Clements, snr., Havlock, Burrell, Brewster (s) 19.
Jas. Ross, Nc-wtli, Huntley. Jno Ross (s) 22; Levin: Menee, Wall, Channings, Cameron (s) 10.
The results of othei- games were as follow: —
Roach (Shannon) 14. lost to Clements (Levin) 19. Bovis (Shannon) 19, beat Ball (Levin) 16. Monks (Talkaro) 16, lost to Lnngelan (Levin) 18. Stevenson (Palmerston N.) 16, lost to Walker (Levin) 20.
Beauchamp (Otaki) 24, beat Challies (Levin) 11.
SATURDAY’S OPENINGS,
On Saturday both .. Otaki and Oroua (Feikling) Clubs will hold 1 official openings. One rink will visit Oroua, and it is understood another rink will represent Foxton at Otaki.
