Air and Airs J. Linklatcr and family and Airs AL McLeod are at present staying at Alanavatu Heads.
Airs IT. Cornfoot, of Haleombe, and her daughter, Airs AA. J. Ross, of Poplar, are staying at the beaeli. Aliss H. Owen, daughter of Air and Airs R. Owen, of Foxton, has accepted a position in Palmerston North and left' to take over her new duties on Sunday.
At yesterday’s meeting of the Foxton Harbour Board Air H. Osborne paid a tribute to the work of. the Board’s pilot (Captain A. Nelson). He said he was a very capable man and was always on the job. Aliss Alice AfeAra, assistant mistress at the Poroutawhao School, has been appointed to a similar position at Ranfurly, Central Otago, and will take up her new duties when school re-opens next week.
The death is reported of Air AVilliam Clement Cargill, of Alorrinsville, aged 63. From 1892 to 1902 he was proprietor of the AVairarapa Star, later known as the Age, and from 1904 until 190 S he controlled the Patea Press. Subsequently he started the Pukekohe Times and then purchased the Morrinsville Star. At the time of his death he was managing director of the Cargill Publishing Company, which publishes the ATorrinsville Star, Alatamata Record and Putaruru Press. Air. Cargill ivas president of the Alaster Printers’ Federation from 1928 until 1930.
