FOXTON WOMEN’S INSTITUTE.

The usual monthly meeting of the. Foxlon Women's Institute took place on Thursday afternoon and gave every indication of sustained interest. Mrs W. 11. Walton presided over a good attendance and welcomed new members, also Airs Tremaine, a member from a neighbouring Institute. It was then decided that in fill lire, meetings commence with the Ode of Friendship in lieu of Ihe usual song. The secretary read the minutes of last meeting which were confirmed.

A Roll Call: Suggestion of topics for inclusion in future pnigra mines brought forth ninny no* - ideas, which will he incorporates in order of greatest preference. A bring and buy stall was the centre of interest for some time. The executive appreciates very much this effort of members and thanks donors for their gifts which will assist Institute funds. The Ilnur hag competition called forth more on! ries, aud the awards were made by popular vote. In the “most useful section" a child's beach suit, and infant’s frock, the work of Mrs C. 11. Symons, and Alls (jraliam respectively, secured the honours, while Miss Thomas, and Mrs Parkin, each with duchess sets beautifully worked, were the successful mil rants in the “artistic section.” The hostesses, Messrs S. Austin, R. Bryant, L. Brvanl, D. R. Barion, Baird and Miss Allan, left nothing to be desired, ihe new arrangement working admirably. The mailer of Xmas cheer for those in need, received consideration and arrangements were made for small gifts to he handed in for this purpose at next meeting when Ihe competition will be “homemade scones" and “best sengrass stool." Airs Barron read the report of the Dramatic Circle.which reflected Hie greatest credit . on all concerned, particularly the producer under whose capable guidance the public were recently given a treat rare to Foxton. Airs Walton eulogised the work done and thanked members for their assistance liiianciallv as funds were low. A wufiiderful demonstration on pine needle work was given by Mrs Tremaine who exhibited some charming specimens. Votes of thanks and the National Antbmn concluded the meeting.
