DRUNK IN CHARGE OF LORRY.

FARMER PINED. Palmerston N., October 29. Charged with being drunk when in charge of a motor lorry on Saturday, Frederick W. 'Dorn, farmer, of Kairanga, pleaded not guilty before Mr. J. L. ,Stout, S.M., in the Magistrate’s 'Court this morning. Police evidence was given that defendant was arrested in Lyndhurst Street, and at the time of his attest he had been “swinging” at the wheel. He was taken to ?he Police Station, still in a state of intoxication, and was bailed out later for the sum of £25. The charge was denied by defendant, who called evidence to support him, but the Magistrate ‘ said that there seemed to be no doubt that defendant was drunk when arrested by the police. Defendant was fined £lO and costs, and his license was endorsed.
