The programme as submitted by the executive was adopted, the prize-money totalling £137.' It was decided to eliminate, push bicycle events from the programme. Mr. Smith said that such competitors preferred to watch the motor events and the public did not seem to take much interest in push bike races as the comparison between the two forms of racing was so marked. i A member: They look like slowmoving pictures in comparison. HORSE EVENTS ELIMINATED. The chairman said it was originally intended to include horse events at the meetings and a permit was obtained from the Racing Conference to this effect. However, owing to financial difficulties the events were not included. If the iClub desired to include such events a fresh permit would have to be obtained. It was the general opinion of members that horse events should not be included on the same day as the motor sports. Mr. Austin said when horse events had been included it had proved a drag on the finances. Mr. Brook-Taylor said it would be impossible to. successfully finance horse events unless members subscriptions were raised. The chairman: The Club has broken away from the original idea which was to embrace all branches of sport. Pony racing had become as extinct as the moa. Mr. Smith: It would be necessary to offer big prize money to attract horse owners. The chairman said finance was the stumbling block and to include horse events meant double work for the officials. On the motion of Messrs Austin and Thomson it was decided that the Club confine itself to motor racing. CHANGE OF NAME. The question of changing the name of the Club was raised and after some discussion Mr. Barron gave notice of motion: That the name of the Club be changed to “the Foxton Motor Club.” TENDERS. The Town Committee was authorised to deal with tenders. INVITATION TO WELLINGTON CLUB. Some discussion took place in connection with the public being allowed to crowd on the course when races were in progress.
