MOTORISTS’ INTERESTS.
NEW MANAWATU ASSOCIATION What is really a sequel to the Wellington Automobile Association’s recent decision with regard to car insurance was enacted at Palmerston North on Monday when the motorists of the Manawatu broke away from the parent body and formed an association of their own. It was announced that 480 members had signed up for the new association, and it is expected by the end of the 'year to have a membership of a thousand. After Mr. E. R. B. liolben, who was voted to the chair, explained the object of the meeting, and the aims and objects of the proposed association had been read, a resolution to form the association was moved by Mr. N. H. Mackie, seconded by Mr. C. F. Spooner, and carried. The following officers were elected: —Patron: Mr. A. J. Graham; president: Mr. E. R. B. Holben; vice-president: Mr. N. H. Mackie; secretary: Mr. W. M'Kenzie; committee, Messrs L. 11. Collinson, J. Selwyn, J. Ireland, A. Hopwood, J. T. Jaggard, A. H. M. Wright, H, E. Edmunds, J. E. Menzies, C. F. Spooner; country representative: Mr. W. E. Barber; treasurer: Mr. C. E. Dempsey. The committee met later, and the question of car insurance was very fully discussed. It was unanimously resolved to adopt Lloyds policy.
