SOLDIERS’ WELCOME FUND.
There was only a small attendance "I: ladies at yesterday afternoon's meeting' to wind up affairs in connection with the welcome dinner and social tendered to returned soldiers in the Town Hall on November 11th. The Rev. W. Raine presided, and read the balance-sheet, as follows :
Receipts. —By collection: per Mrs (.lower and Miss Rough £l4 IDs Gd, Mrs C. Pearson £l2 5s Gd, Mrs IV. Smith (Moutoa) £G 12s, Mrs Fume £Gd)s, Mrs Raine £5 Us,’Mrs Perreau £4 13s Gd, Mrs Seahury £4 12s, Miss Symons £2 8s Gd; total, £sv Os; door takings, £ll ss; total receipts, £GB Us. '
Expenditure —To dinner (M. K Perreau) £25, supper (M. E. Perreau) £lB 15s, box cigarettes £1 Os, claret £2 Bs, cordials (A. Stevenson) £3 19s 4d, hire of hall £4, music for dance £3 3s, decorations and floor £1 18s 2d, cartage. IGs (id, prizes card tournament IGs Bd, sundries ss, printing and advertising £3 15s; total expenditure, £GG 5s 8d; credit balance, £2 8s 4d.
The statement was adopted, and it was unanimously decided to devote the surplus, £2 8s 4d, to the Foxton Soldiers’ Memorial Fund.
