GERMAN COLONIES.
THEIR RETURN DESIRED. New York, -Jan. 21. The Chicago News states that an ofiieial .-lalemenl in the Berlin Gazelle is attributed lo tbe Gorman Colonial Office. It says; “President Wilson made it clear that the Peace Conference would equitably and justly solve (be colonial question. The German Government feels that the Entente's retention of the colonies would bo neither lair nor just, and would be evidence of (be intention to suppress Ihe German nation.” The correspondent interviewed Aleyer Gerhard, formerly a member of the German Colonial Office, who said that it was impossible for Germany lo agree to an International Commission lo govern 1 lit*, colonic- for a period of ten or twenty year-, with the understanding Dial when a strong Republican Governmeni built up Germany again she would again assume control of her colonies.
