MUNICIPAL PICTURES

The programme for to-morrow night promises to be of more than ordinary interest, for in addition to the ordinary programme the first of the regular supply of war films will be shown, viz., “The German Eutry into Brussels,” in which will be seen the enemy’s cavalry, infantry, artillery, transports, the cook-kettles on wheels, German soldiers, bearded and haggard, eating their mess from huge dippers, red cross waggons loaded with wounded or machine guns, and thousands of troops, all armed, encamped in the streets. The star drama, “Lost in MidOcean,” contains a vivid tragedy of the sea, showing exciting wireless telegraphic effects. The other items will be : Gaumont Graphic, topical; The Cockchafer, nature study ; All for Science, drama ; The River Avon, scenic; The Strategy of Conductor 786, comic ; The Limpet, nature study ; Mabel’s Busy Day, comic. “Called to the Front,” the great war picture shown at the Royal last night was received with great enthusiasm. It is the first genuine present war picture screened in the Dominion and those who did not see it last night should not fail to see it to-night, when the whole programme screened last night will be repeated. For to-morrow night the star is, “Fight for a Fortune,” In which Miss Demson, the female detective, appears in her star role. Other pictures are, “Gaumont Graphic,” “Soldier and the See Saw,” comic: ” In Northern Italy,” a most beautiful scenic of the. sunny peninsula; “The Inscription,” a grandly worked out unexaggerated play and others.
