MR ATMORE AND HIS VOTE.

A rumour was given publicity in Nelson last week to the effect that Mr Atmore had been a frequent visitor at Awarua House, the Prime Minister’s residence, prior to the division on the noconfidence motion, and that he was absent from the House on Tuesday of last week, when he was said to be motoring in company with membeis ot the Premier’s family. The Nelson Colonist mentions the matter in order to give Mr Atmore’s emphatic denial of the report. Mr Atmore informed the Colonist that the statements are simply tissues of lies. He states that he was not absent from the House for a single minute whilst it was sitting and that he was never at Awarua House at any time, and iu support of this latter statement he has shown us the folllowing telegram: —“In reply to your telegram I have to state that you have never been iu my residence, Awarua House, but should be exceedingly pleased to welcome you there at any time. —J. G. Ward.” Mr Atmore further states that when he next addresses his constituents, which will be before the June session, he will deal with the matter and name the person responsible tor these untrue statements.
