A MELBOURNE HORROR.
Melbourne, Sept. 16.
At the trial of Dr Peacock, charged with the murder of the girl Davies, Clifford Poke (Davies’ sweetheart) stated that he last saw Davies in Dr Peacock’s hospital on August 17th. He identified the jewellery and clothing as belonging to her. On August 22nd, Dr Peacock told him that Davies was dead, and asked him to leave the disposal of the body to him to secretly bury. He intended to take the girl’s clothes to his farm at Carrum and burn them. Subsequently he said the body buried and the clothes burned. He warned witness to say nothing or it would be bad for both of them.
