CRISIS IN TURKEY.

London, April 22. The Constitutionalists’ gendarmes entered Constantinople and posted proclamations declaring that the Constitutional troops were marching in solely to maintain order and punish the guilty. An official Austrian message mentions a report that the demand for the Sultan’s deposition has been dropped. Reuter reports that Egget Pasha, chief of the general staff, who is the principal Constantinople member of the Committee of Union and Progress, so directed affairs that the first corps garrisoning the city was won to the Constitutional cause. His able assistant was Rifaat Pasha. The committee detached practically every person of distinction from the Sultan, and refused to negotiate with anyone on the Sultan’s behalf regarding the future of the Sultan. Constantinople, April 22. The investing army numbers 25,000, and reinforcements ot artillery are arriving daily at Constantinople. The police confiscated the journal Hilal for publishing a violent article disputing the Sultan’s title of Khalif and citing the circumstances of the previous depositions of the Sultan’s. The Kurdes and Circassians are devastating the Christian villages throughout the vilayet of Aleppo. Massacres are reported from Antioch and Makri. London, April 22. Advice from Vienna states that to-day the garrison took the oath in the presence of the Sheik-ui-Islam, Edhem Pasha and Nazzi Pasha. Then a reconciliation between the garrison and the Constitutionalists troops under Husni Pasha followed.
