During the storm and flood experienced in the Phillipines, three American boats saved 100 out of 106 natives in a suburb of Aparri. Every angler wants fishing tackle which can be depended upon. He wants to be sure that his flies are well tied, that his casts are good and fresh, and that his waders are not perished and leaking. If he is to be sure of his tackle, he had belter order from E. The following will represent the Debaters in their match against Foxton to-morrow afrernoon:— Stiles, Rough, Woods, Littlejohn, Johnston, McCall, Betty, Ingram, Walden, Connolly and Spelraan.

The children ot the local Methodist Sunday school have been practising for some time for their forthcoming anniversary services, which take place in the Masonic Hall, on Sunday and Monday next, November Ist and 2nd. The music is the same as was sung at the Webb Street Methodist anniversary in the Town Hall, Wellington. The Rev. F. W. Isitt will be the preacher for the day. Mr. J. W. Gibson, of Levin, will give an address to the children in the afternoon. On Monday a monster tea and public meeting will be held, presided over by Mr. R. Osborne of Palmerston North. The Rev. G. K. Aitken will speak on Sunday school work. A number of the anniversary hymns will he sung, also recitations and other items by the children, conducted by the Rev P. J. Mairs.
