The Manawatu Herald. THURSDAY, OCTOBER 24, 1907. BETTER BE SURE THAN SORRY.
The recent boating fatality at Whangape, with its sorrowful details, reminds us of the great risk being run by local hoys while boating. It is a common sight to see little fellows in their teens out on the’river in flat-bottomed shells, scudding over The water with an improvised sail set. They do not realise the risk they are taking. We issue a timely warning to owners to refrain from allowing children to take their boats. We hope this reminder will have the necessary effect.
