A Serious Charge

A MAN UNDER ARREST FOR CAUSING DEATH. Yesterday morning, about B‘.lo, Mrs Elderkin, proprietress of the Q.O.E. Dining Rooms, Main street, Palmerston North, died very suddenly. Later in the day a man named William Saunders, a bricklayer, who resides on the premises, was arrested on a charge of causing her death. It is alleged that towards the end of last week, Saunders had some dis pute with the deceased which subsequently ended in the woman falling and striking her bead on the floor. Apparently she was unhurt at the time, but bad since complained of not being well. Yesterday morning she suddenly expired. A most mortem examination was made, the result of which will be disclosed at the Police Court to-day. The late Mrs Elderkin had not been in good health for some time past, and it is probable that the result of the case will 'not be as serious as the charge might imply. The charge was to have been beard this morning . Manawatu Times.
