These mills will expend fully £2OOO per month in wages A brunch bank is to ho ostablishod forthwith and several now businesses created, all adding wealth and importance to the town of Shannon, and making it, for business purposes, one of the best towns on the West Co ;*t of the North Island. A vast improvement is about to be effected in connection with the roada of the district leading to and from the town of Shannon. A bridge is about to be erected at the Shannon Ferry—an immense boon to the Foxton residents. The Otarua stream is to bs bridged at ,once, thus joining Nat ban-terrace with the main road to the Makerua Synd cate's land. These changes alone wi 1, within twelve months, increase tbs passenger traffic fu ly one hundred per cent. The diversion of the flood wafers of the river Manawatu is now the subject of seri ous discussion amongst the residents of the town of Shannon. Financial arrangements of an extensive character will pmbab y be made so as to enable from 100,000 to 150,000 acres of the low-lying land between Kereru and Longburn to be thoroughly drained. The vast importance of this great work, which may wall be re g>i rded as national work, to the town and district of Shannon has only to be mentioned to be undtrstood by those best acquainted with ihe Manawatu district. Ab a small investment the purchr.se of one or more of these twenty one valuable building sections will prove of the most satisfactory character. The sections will grow in value every year and prove a capital nest-egg. The terms are for each section—£s deposit, £5 in one month, £5 in three months, £5 in six months, £5 in twelve months, balance in three years—interest 5 per cent, per annum.
