Foxton Athletic Club.
A general meeting of the Club was held at Mr Levett’s Manawatu Hotel last night at 8 o’clock, Mr R. Noonan occupying the chair. , The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed.
Correspondence as received was read.
Mr Geo. Seifert’s donation of £2 as for flaxmiiler’s race was received with thanks.
Proposed by Mr Westwood, seconded by Mr E. Dunn, That the secretary make the best arrangements possible with tramway manager for running of tram on day of sports. Carried. Resolved, That the sports programme he inserted in the Manawatu Times Ids the sum of £2 as offered by them. Accounts araountingito £2 103 were passed for payment It was resolved that the secretary procure some cinders and have same carted to track at once.
Proposed by Mr Westwood, secon, ded by Mr Hamer, That the millers*. subscription to Sheffield HandicaplMP not less than 10s to admit flaxmill hands to compete in same. Carried. Proposed by Mr Reade, seconded by Mr Hamer, That the secretary write to Mr G. Shortt, of Feilding, asking it he would show trophies in his window, also to Mr Merrirnan, Palmerston N., for the same purpose. Carried.
An amendment, proposed by M t W. Baker, seconded by Mr F. Martin, That the trophies do not leave Foxton was lost.
Resolved, That Mr R: Noonan take trophies to Feilding and Palmerston, tbs Club to pay expenses for same. Carried-
The secretary was instructed to make arrangements with band for day
$1 sports, also f/flfcake enquiries as to wbat tenders c; jrbe got for refreshment booth. - f Prcr;-)tftd by«r Dunn, seconded by Mr Westwood, That the clock presented by Thomson, Lewis & Co. be allotted to a members’ race, distance to be 150 yards handicap. Post entry, is. Carried. Mr Noonan informed the meeting that he bad a picture sent him to be presented b the Club, and it was resolved thft it be given lor one of the , girl's racqi in place of cash. Mr Rjade mentioned the loss the Club haireceived through Mr Rickard, their jopt secretary, leaving the district, am it was unanimously resolved that a letter of thanks be forwarded and expressing the Club’s appreciation of hlsservicea. A Ota of thanks to the chair and to Mr Jevett for the bse of the room confided a very successful meeting. I ,
