Breaking up of the Foxton School.
Greatly to the surprise of the scholars, Mr Hennessy, Chairman of the School Committee and other members, visited the State School yesterday afternoon, and Mr Hennessy informed the scholars that owing to the hard work they had had in preparing for the entertainment, the Committee had decided to close the school that afternoon. He hoped they would all conduct themselves properly during the holidays. The Rev. W. Woollass also reminded the children of the duty they owed to their teachers and parents and trusted they would be as little worry to their parents, and on school reassembling they would show by their work that they had appreciated their holidays. The usual cheering followed.
Mr Hennessy then distributed a number Xmas cards to the infants, which were provided by the Head Teacher, and then, in the playground a scramble followed for lollies given by Mr Hennessy.
