A movement towards securing the united support of all those who do not approve of tbe policy of the present government, has at least been made in Auckland. The desire of the promoters is to secure equal rights and fair play, as opposed to the tyranny of one particular class, and the dangerous experiments of crude and hasty legislation. As far as the platform goes, no one, having the interest of the Colony at heart, can object to it, and we have so often urged some organization being formed to counteract the organization of the government side in politics, that it goes without saying that we approve of what is being done. The title is that of " The National Association of New Zealand," and the objects are : — 1. To promote a National Sentiment as opposed to sectional and class interests. 2. To promote agricultural, mm*

ing commercial, and manufacturing enterprise by removing ail unnecessary obstacles to their development. 3. To promote the flue registration of parliamentary electors, true representation in Parliament and the election of the best men available. 4. To promote reforms economic, legislative, and constitutional. o. To promote sound political economy, and to oppose class legislation and all undue interference with individaal rights and liberty. We are given to understand that the Aucklanders do not assume any leadership in the movement, Councils will be elected in other districts, and Branches, which shall have power to make bye -laws and elect their own officers. The annual subscription is a very small one. We shall be glad to see some start to form a Branch in this town.
