BASEBALL.
A eorrospondent sends us the following account of the first game of baseball ever played in Foxon, which took place on Saturday last. Not- I withstanding the short notice and ;! inclemency of the weather, a large number rolled up to take part in the game. Jl'S. McGifford, late se6re^ tary of tho Pacific Cub, Wellington, and W. J. Lawrence were the promoters of the game in Foxton, and showed that they did not undertake a task they did not understand, but , were experienced players in *V* ell \ lington. A considerable amount of ' enthusiasm was displayed by those present, and at the close of the game a number of those present expreskeH ' ' their wil ingness pf, forming a Baseball Club here. .
