THE HYDRO-ELECTRIC PETITION

The ratepayers of the borough of Blenheim should talc© note or the fact that only 32 signatures have Leon attached to the petition having for its object the formation of an Electric Power Board for Marlborough, Nelson, and Buller. As not far short of ten times that number is required to enable the petition to he presented to the Governor-General it behoves the ratepayers generally to give early attention to the matter if they want to see tho hydro-electric movement go ahead; and they should Sot be content with the statutory 25 per cent., but should try and give their mandate a thoroughly representative character. They may sign the Eatition by calling in at the Town lerk's office. The Borough Council hoped that there would be a sufficient response if it placed the petition there, and it adopted this method with the idea of saving the ratepayers' money. It would be an expensive matter to circulate the petition throughout the borough through the medium of one or more canvassers.
