WEEKLY MEETING

A letter was received from tho "Watedea Fortnight" collecting committee asking if, as the 21st of Augustwas the last day of the Waterleo. effort, the Union would, postpone thofixture arranged for that date on the Domain, or would granttho proceedsto. the fund» the Union having gained/ permission to take a gate on this occa^~ sion.

Members thought that the Waterlea Committee was asking too mucli, as the Union was arranging a, benefit match for the- fund, and the fixture in question was post important. It was a matter of financial consideration, and the Union could not aiford' to lose the gate.

It was re.soJved to- answer that tho' Union could not fall in with the Waterlsa Committee's projiosal.

! S-ibs^quently, tho debate was re- | s,nmed, and the advisability of holding the Woillington "rep." match and tho Lsenior cup match on the A. and P.! Show Grcmnds was mooted. It wj^ conceded that .;v larger attendance of 1 tho public would result if the match wore held there.

Tho manager of tho team on thfj Wellington.trip-gave, a very satisfactory report, and at Mr Cbstellor's instance it was decided that the Union; writo. +o Wie Wellington Rugby Union, and Mr N. Perry, thanking thorn foa* the courtesy shown the team while it1 was in Wellington.

A letter from the Greymouth Union asked if a match could" be arranged' with Greymoiutli when the team w»a» on the Coast.—lt; waS decided to answer thmb it would be absolutely impossible to do so.

The necessity for new jerseys for the representative team was brought before the meeting. The old ones had become too small owing to shrinkage, and the deficiency was very apparent among the forwards who' were big men. The managers were empowered! to procure new jerseys at Nelson today fov th© team.

A conference of all the Rugby Unions concerned in the Seddon Shield: competition is to bo held at West-port on Saturday night next, with the object of amending certain rules govern^ ing the competition. The recent*

situation created by the Soddon Shield; •: challenge,, clashing with -South Mand country tour brought- tea - •light many rlencienekw in the rules; and the Unions concerned have mutually- agreed to confer in the matter.
