THE SEDDON SHIELD MATCH.

fid THE EDITOR.]

Sir, —Kindly allow me, through your valuable columns, to wish good livck to the Maryborough team in its pilgrimage to Westport in quest of the Seddon Shield, and to utter just one word of advice. Btiller are, to ugh nuts to crack, and will use every endeavor to keep the Shield. Marlborough had a win on Saturday in Wellington, and should score another win in Nelson to-morrow. These two •vms, it is to be hoped, will not result in giving the members of the team "swelled head." One hears about "town since Saturday the remark, "The Shield is as good as here" ; but talk like that is pernicious and liable, if the members of the team listen to it, to do their caufe gieat harm. My advice to the lads is to strain* every nerve to lift the Shield, but not to icgard Buller as beaten till the referee's whistle blows its last blast.—+l am. etc., OLI> SPORT.
