WELLINGTON-PICTON TRIP

DAYLIGHT TRIPS ADVOCATED

A correspondent signing himself *''Voya.gc.r" writes to the N.Z. Times as follows::—

"I notice in your paper that some person or persons in Blenheim it»\} advising the Union Steam Ship Com-"' f.any to run. the steamers, shortly to he. put on, so that' they shall leaveWellington at 11 at night. This can only be the suggestion of those who wish an evening's amusement in Wellington, and to ear oh the Blenheim train in Pioton early in the morning. Against this put the iuecnvemence, aaixiety, and expense to hundreds of' passengers, many of them women and children" in having to go to the Wellington wharf at nearly midnight, and have tho peril of a. dangerous crossing in tho dark. Picton Pleads aa*e not a very safe en- (1 trance, even in daylight, and should any accident happen to the machinery (a.s it has done before1) they would, in storm and darkness, be a veritable death-trap. People who are. compelled to make this crossing have looked with hope to arrangements' for a daylight trip each way, and I trust that the-Union Company will turn down promptly any suggestion for midnight trips, Especially from Wellington to Picton.''
