LIQUOR AT A DANCE.
MAGISTERIAL DECISION.
[Passs Association. ; WELLINGTON, Aug. 5. Judgment was given by Mr Evans, S M., to-day in a case brought by the police against D. Dustin for allowing -liquor to be consumed in Dustin s Hall during a social held there by a Government Department. Tho prosecution contended that tue hall was part of Dustm's restaurant, and it relied on % definition of ■"licensed promises" m section 4 ot the Licensing Act. The Magistrate held that on the facts the hall was not part of the restaurant. It was never open to the general public for meals. It waj aeparately let to persons who used it and who had the sole right to iwcupy it for the time it was held. He decided that no offence under the section had been committed, and dis- ■ missed the information.
