Michael Sheen, an adult, and two boys named Roy White and Stanley Forest were killed as a;result of the railway smash at Hurstville. The trains collided rear to rear, while one was being shunted for the leturn journey to Sydney. The other was:'awaiting, the signal to proceed to Sutherland. Tlia engine of the former had already' changed to the other end of the train.
Forest was hopelessly buried in the wreckage, his • resellers having to chop his leg off with a hatchet to extricate him. JThe boy displayed wonderful fortitude, asking for a cigarette. He died on reaching the hospital. The injured .numbered fifteen.
