CABINET FRICTION

OVER IRISH AND RUSSIAN QUESTIONS.

LPress Association.] Aus. and N.Z. Cable Association. LONDON, Aug. 1. Various newspapers indicate friction in the Cabinet, amounting to a Unionist revolt against the Prime Minister over the Irish and Russian questions, on which the- disagreement centres. There is a feeling among Unionists that Mr Lloyd George is temporising with Sinii Feinism instead of annihilating it. Both the Liberal Peace Party and the Unionist War Party are ajigry over the Russian policy. The Prime Minister is accused of facing both ways on the Polisii difficulty, which Mr Churchill, in a recent newspaper article, went so far as to suggest that Germany might be asked to repel the Bolshevik advance. Beneath it all is the resentment that in a Cabinet in which the Unionists are dominant they ought to have a predominant share in shaping the Eo'licy, instead of being under Mr iloyd George's dictatorship* Writing to Mr Kingsley Wood, Mr Lloyd George said that there was never a time when there was greater need for unity and order to secure a solution of urgent problems at home and abroad .

Lord Wolmer\ addressing Aldershot Inionists, said that the Conservatives were disappointed in the lack of firm principles on the part of their leaders. If Mr Bonar Law could not lead he could make way for someone else. Lord Wolraer believed that Sir Edward Garson was the personality the country stood in greatest need of at present.
