At 1.5 both yachts.,were off-shore oh the febarboard tack in a six-knot breeze:. The liesolute was, half a iplie in the lead slightly to windward. •Alter, aii 'hour and a half six miles bad been covered. At 1.43 the Resolute- was sl6v,'ly: .increasing her lead. Ihe Shamrock came about to gtaav board and'■ followed in her wake. At two o'clock the Resolute was half a H:ile: ahead ten miles out. ■Th<\ wind veered westward when the yachtsi pointed for the turning mark. . The waiter then became flat and the dead.
