FATHER JERGER
CLAUSE OF THE INTERNMENT.
L'pßßia AißoeuTios.i (Received May 31, 8.15 p.m ) SYDNEY, May 31. It is announced that the autliorities have promised a further inquiry into Father Jerger's case, pending deportation.
It is now ascertained that Father Jerger's internment was the outcome of allegedly disloyal utterances. Strong protests against these utterances, including some from members of Father Jergers' ow£ church, led the authorites to take action.
The whole incident is causing an unusually widespread revival of bitter sectarianism, combined with fervid loyalty.
