CAPETOWN, April 7.

Last year's crisis in connection with low-grade mines, which was averted by the rise in gold values, has been revived owing to' the sudden drop in the gold premium, with, the value at 110s last month--said'to-be one of the most disastrous in the l.istory of the industry. The drop in the gold premium was due to the improvement in the trade position in England and to large exports of gold. ll it continues opinion on. the Rand is that many low-grade mines will be seriously affected,, and will probably be compelled to close.
