PELORUS ROAD BOARD.

The monthly meeting of the Peiorus Road Board was held in the Board's office on Tuesday last. There were present: Messrs C. Nees (chairman), J. . Kenningtom, A'. Weaver, J. Bryant, C. Leov, B. Thompson, and, C. Hart. Ifc was resolved that tho inspector 'be instructed to" prepare a full report on the Mahau road for the next meeting. A letter was received from Gosling and Son regarding the Board's charges for heavy traffic, stating that their waggons dad not use the'road regularly,, and asking that a charge of so much pe>; trip be made in lieu of the annual charge! After the matter had geen fully discussed, it was decided that'the Board adhere to the iinnual rate, and that Messrs Gosling vnd Son be requested to pay the sama on all then' waggons using the road. Wellington Education Board wrote regarding protective works to> bo carried out at Mat Creak, agreeing to pay half the ccst>, provided the work was carried! out satisfactorily by the Board. ■ It was decided that the Board undertake the worfc on these conditions. Mr B'ovd's offer for gravelling the Ronga road was left in the hands of the inspector to deal witJi. Ifc was resolved that the specifications and an offer of £66 from Mr McDonald to do the work at Billygoat's Creek bo forwarded' to the engineer for approval. It was decided to request the Public Works Department to undertake the work of erecting the Ruapaka and Pike's Creek bridges. The inspector* was authorised to put a culvert in t-ho Blackball road as suggested, by him. It was decided that a grant of £20 be made for the Tunakino road, and also £15 to Mr • Greensill for the Mahau track, Mr Thompson to supervise tli© work.
