IRRIGATION IN BRAZIL.
A FIVE YEARS' UNDERTAKING
RIO DE JANEIRO, April 5. Preliminary work has begun on the construction of irrigation works to cost fifty million dollars in the drought-stricken sections of northwestern Brazil. It is intended to extend railroads to the district. The work is expected to be completed in five years.
