THE EGYPTIAN SITUATION.
GENERAL ALLENBY'S FIRM
STAND.
LONDON, Nov. 23. The Daily Chronicle says that the Government intends to deal firmly with the Egyptian situation and will not be intimidated by the extremists. The gravity of the recent disorders is recognised, but a considerable section of the inhabitants strongly disapproves of the actions of the extremists, which are being fostered by alien agitators. The Home Government supports General Allenby's firm stand.
The view is held that the Egyptians are suffering from nerves, owing to the war, especially the 'large illiterate section, and this provides excellent material for agitators.
