ROSS-SMITH'S JOURNEY
[Peers Association.} '{Received Nov. 20, 1.30 p.m.) : SIDNEY, Nov. 20
The Sun's" special messages from Captain Ross-Smith shows that the journey from Rome to the Gulf of ..Suda, in Crete, was marked r.ostly . by wind and rain when passing mountains. He flew low over Vesuvius, . but the weather was too bad to obtain photographs. Crossing the Mediterranean from Suda Bay he had to fly at an altitude of 2000 feet most ■ of the wav, owing to clouds and rain. It took^i hours to strike the Afri- • can coast at Sollum. Thence he flew across the desert to Cairo. His time . 1-4 thirty flying hours so far, mostly through rain and storms. The ; greatest assistance was rendered by the aerial route stations. The ma- «• cl.me is. going perfectly.
