NEXT SATURDAY'S MATCHES

1.30 p.m.—Wairau v. Picton. at Domain. 1.30 p.m.—Old Boys v. Marshlands, ai Marshlands.

j A start was made with the senior competition last Saturday, when Marshlands defeated Picton at Picton. The latter team could hardly have played up to form, as Marshlands were not fully represented, and it was expected! that Picton wouM be - a match tor the Spring Creek players at full strength M. Neal has struck form, early, and, with Turby, Marshlands' new bowler, had a big share in the win. The Odd Boys' team has been successfully organised, and in fact will 'take a considerable amount! of beating Its particular strength will be in bowling, in which department it has ewoiugh. boilers for the "rep.'' team. The matches between Old Boys ana Wairau should produce fin© contests, as, although the old club has been very hard hit by the formation of Old Boys, there is still a fair allround side available, and already tho first match is being looked forward to with great interest. Practices are being well attended, and everything points to a successful season. The new wicket at the Domain is looking TX3Vy well, and1 is a shining example of what can be accomplished witih a- little attention. The ground nad never been touched until about three weeks a gee, and already some anticipate that the wickets will be as good as tjiosc on the old ground— and they were undeniably good. Thoso who have not yet seen the result will be agreeably surprised. Naturally, this desirable state of affairs has not beon brought about without! considerable expenditure and labor. The Association being withovt funds the cost has been borne by the' Wairau Club, and Mr G. H. Moni-io* has put in a* great deal of time and labor on the ground.

The following team will represent Picton seniors against Wairau .at Blenheim on "Saturday:—Gibb, Cragg, Barratt, Riddell. Bowler, Wilkinson, Knowles, Potter, S. Mitchell, A. Perano, and Matthews. E7nergencies: Heilison and Esson.
