INCOME TAX BILL.
(FROM OUR CORItESPONDEKf.) WELLINGTON, Sept. 18
Speaking on the Land and Income Tax Bill to-day Mr McCallum (Wairau) deplored the tact that the valuations of lands had mot been brought up to date by the Government. If the increases over the war period were added to the present values he believed that the total amount received in land tax would be doubled, and if merely increased now to vithin 85 per cent or 90 per cent of the actual amount over the value to-day would mean an increase of 50 per cent in taxation and that from estates over £20,000 or so in value for unimproved land.
