The Wairau, which left Wellington for Blenheim early this morning, was unable to negotiate the' Wairau Bar, so proceeded to Picton, from which port she will leave for Wellington tomorrow nfternoon.

Mr D. C. Bates telegraphs as follows:—The indications are for souther!/ winds strong to gale; heavy rain Is to be expected, .with rivers rising shortly; the weather will probably become very cold; barometer rising; very heavy seas; good tides.
