HAVELOCK.

[FROM ODE COBREBPONDMNT. J Thursday. A meeting of the local committee of the Efficiency Board was held on Tuesday, Mr J. S. Storey occupying the chair. The meeting decided to support the proposal, forwarded from the Blenheim centre, that the regulations be relaxed to enable youths of 18 to obtain certificates for chaffcutting, and the secretary was requested to obtain an estimate of the number of machines likely to operate in the district. It was stated that the proposal to employ school-boy labor in harvest operations during the coming summer holidays was again receiving warm support from school-masters, and also the hearty co-operation of the boys. Only two (both local) tenders were received by St. Peter's Church vestry for the erection of ail eightroomed vicarage. The tenderers were Haseler £1125, and A. Reade £850, and as both were considered too high, building operations are not likely to be proceeded with for some time. The very handsome communion table1 recently presented to St. Peter's Church by the Girl's Friendly Society, of Blenheim, now stands in the church. A service of dedication, to be conducted by Archdeacon Grace, is being arranged for Wednesday, 10th inst., when it is hoped that several members of the Society donating the article will attend. It is intended to dedicate the table to the fallen soldiers of Marlborough.
