NELSON AND MAKLBOROUGF

CENTRE.

The annual general meeting :of the Nelson and Marlborough Bowling Centra was held at the Nelson Bowling Clubs- rooms on Saturday afternoon, when, in the absence of the president, Mr J. E. Allen was voted to* the chair. There were also present the following • club delegates:—Nel,§9o,.,.,Mr JR. B. Jackson; Blenheim, Mr A. J>. Burns; Maitai, Messrs J. E. Allen and; S. P. Sherwood: Takaka, Air T. Haldane; Riyersdale, Mr A. Dee; Wakefield, Mr A. Wilkinson ; and the secretary (Mr R. W. Stiles). Apologies were tendered on of Mr A. Gould (president) and Mr C. M.'Whelan (Pictdn). The annual report, previously circulated to clubs, was adopted. It con tamed the following:— Annual Tournament.—lt is regretted that the annual tournament to have been held on. Christmas and Boxing Days had to be abandoned from lack of support. This was generally attributed, to the Dominion tournament being, held close to our date, the nearness to our centre of the pjaceof holding, and the fact./fchat it was for patriotic funds. Christmas time, it is understood from delegates, is nob the most suitable for our tournament, and therefore' the New Ydiar has been fixed and Nelson as the . jjlace. for the fourth Centre tournament.

Champion of Champions.—This competition, fixed for Easter Tuesday, had to be abandoned in. consequence of rain. It has-been decided that all clubs shall find their senior champion by the. 14th March in each year, and clubs are requested' to bear this ill mind.

'Centre Membership.—The • aggregate membership is 413, made up as follows:—•■

Members have subscribed liberally, and at the Nelson Easter Tournament quite a good suiri was realised.

~ D'omihfon Representation.—So far the Centre has not been represented on the Dominion Council. The Centre is entitled to nominate for positions of president (who must be a member of a club in the Dunedin Centre); vice-president (who must be a member of a club in th<v Auckland Centre); . treasurer and five persons as lion -official members of the Council (who" must be members of a bowling club). The written consent of \parties must be obtained. Clubs desirous of taking advantage of nomination should notify their club's representative. ' •■■ . ; ''■.■■■•'.■ '.' .

North v. South.—The question of making application to be attacned to the North instead of the South*lsland (ostensibly owing to Wellington knowing the condition of the 'Nelson Centre) was put before the clubs. Four voted in favor; one against; one required further information; an^fl two did not i-eply. ' . The balance-sheet, submitted by Mr Sherwood, showed a credit balance of £17 6s sd. It was adopted. The Wakefield Club applied for LaD n- Day for opening day and Anniversary I>ay (February Ist) for the annual tournament.: These were granted. .

The Riversdale Club wrote expressing appreciation of the circulation of the annual report, which also contained the doings of the,, respective clubs
