A DRAMATIC COUP
MANCHU DYNASTY RETURNS
(Renter's Telegrams.) (Received July 3, 2.10 p.m.) PEKTN, July 2. The President has resigned, and the Emperor has been restored to the throne.
Reuter correspondent states that the Chinese coup came with dramatic swiftness. Secretary-General Changshi, leader of the , military party, suddenly appeared at the Presidential residence a»t three o'clock in the morning and curtly informed the President that he must resign, as the Manphu Emperor Hstran-Tung had been, restored.
The new Emperor, a boy of eleven, was deposed in 1912.
