Private Oscar E. Cederinan, of Riwaka, who has been reported -killed in action, was a married man. He was a fine athlete, and' excelled a.football under both imles:
Pvt. C. Higgins, of Spring Grove, is reported killed in action in c France. The deceased was well known and respected in the Nelson district: He was brought up at Havelock Suburban,- but enlisted from Nelson. Up, to the time of his enlistment he was ■■sheep-farming, at Havelock. Private' Higgjns was 22 years of age. Lieutenant Percival J. Palmer, of Fo^hiH. who has died from wounds recc-ved in Frarice on June 7th, was in England with his parenw at 'the outbreak of war. He enbsted with the British section, a contingent .of New Zealanders raised in London, and was among the first draft of soldiers who received their training at oling Camp, Salisbury Plain. After serving in Egypt and Gallipoli, Lieutenant Palmer contracted enteric and was invalided home. • On recovery he j'.gain went into camp, and obtained •a commission with. the '20th Sipeeial--ists Company.. Lieutenant- .Palmer, was well known in the Nelson district, always taking a keen interest in various branches of sport and musical societies. He.attehded Nel-' son College in 1903 and 1904. Much sympathy is felt for Mr and Mrs Palmer, who have two otherE sons, Frank and Leslie, on active service in France. Lieutenant Palmer was a nephew of Mrs Ladley, of Grovetown, and Mrs Livingstone*, of .Springlands."
