PROGRESS IN A THUNDERSTORM.

T>ie United Press's Headquarters correspondent states that the British advanced so*ith-west of liens in a terrific -thunderstorm just before dark oh Thursday, advancing an average of five hundred yards along a two nrilo frorjb. They are • still advancing. 'They are half way through A v ion, also well south-eastward oi Lens. The Germans have not coun-ter-attacked, and all the gains nave been consolidated. v The correspondent "watched .the battle from an elevation® behind the j -Canadians. A black. storm-cloud came up, with vivid lightning. The thunderclaps were - indistinguishable from the howitzers. The- infantry: stormed the outskirts of Lens and theplains to the southward, to the accompaniment1 of both__ Heaven's and Sir Douglas.- Haig's artilleries.
