Sir Thomas Mackenzie reports that tho as*is*-an«;e. rendered to New Zealand prisoners shows that in addition to parcels of clothing each receives 9s worth, of food weekly, and eigsn'ntt<»3 and tobacco fortnightly. Prisoners in Germany receive 2s Gd uev week 'for pocket money, and those in Turkey 10s 4d to 12s 3d per week, according to the locality where they arc imprisoned. The latter receive a good local bread supply. There is great difficulty in sending parcels, which 'sometimes tnke three to ton months in transmission. The men receive money easier.
