Patriotic Fund, THE MAYOR'S SPECIAL APPEAL. THIS Column-is reserved specially for the above object, and will contain daily ali subscriptions which have been received. Marlborough has sent from her own district 935 soldiers to the war to date, besides many Marlborough lads who have volunteered and joined in other districts, so that it may reasonably be said" that over 1000 Marlboro ugh luds have gone to the front to help you to keep your liberty. They are doing their duty, and it is up to the people of the province to do theirs. "Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his triends." These boys are offering their lives for Marlborough. WHAT WILL MARLBOROUGH DO FOR THEM? ■■The fund for the .wounded at present, stands at under £12,000, and one thousand men and their dependents have a call on it. THINK OF IT! Less than £12 per man! How long will that keep them when they get hurt or knocked out? And it is up to Marlborough to see that the fund is made solvent. . We want at least £30,000. So send it along. You can't give too much. To the Public of Marlborough,—At the request of the Marlborough Patriotic Fund, I have undertaken a special appeal to the people of the province for help to the fund inaugurated for the relief of the wounded and their dependents. It is hoped to make this fund at least £30.000, which is as small an amount as can be considered even reasonably safe. I confidently rely on the generosity or the people to see that the wants of, the brave lads who are going forward so cheerfully are not overlooked, and I will be glad to receive and acknowledge all subscriptions. . , :y J.-J.
