LTSTTER FROM A PRISONER, OF
WAR. . - "GAMIEST BOYS IN THE
*WORLD."
WANGANUI, Oct. 21.
A 'otter received here by his brother from 'Sergt. George McAne-ry, who is a prisoner of war in the, Hospital Militaire, Malt^ne, Constantinople, dated August 20, says:— v "'I have had: the bad hide to get wonnded and captured. Our boys took a- trench, tut got cut up, and the trench was retaken by the Turks. I got wounded by a bomb which burst in the trench. I was hit twice, and suffered awful agony; but the wounds have-nearly healed, ami lam 'O.K.' The'trench was a shambles—filled to the top with dead and dying lying three? and four deep. T never want to see anything liko it any more. 1 saw the gamest boys in the world1 go down at dawn that morning. We are being treated''■well., and the wounded ere well cared for."
The letter came through the Switzerland Red Cross.
