GERMAN ATTACKS IN FRANCE.

LONDON, Jan. 26 (7 p.m.) Paris reports that near La Bassee, at Givenehy, the enemy five times attacked the British lines, but were repulsed, leaving' numerous dead behind. West of Craonne the Germans attacked twice successively with extreme violence. The. first onslaught was repulsed; the second penetrated the trenches, but by an energetic counter-attack the Allies regained almost the whole of the ground lost. Fighting is still continuing.
