HINDU INVASION OF UNITED

STATES

A KNOTTY PROBLEM

[Press Association.] (Received Jan. 14, 8.20 p.m.) WASHINGTON, Jan. 14.. The Commissioner-General of Immigration, reports that Hindu immigration ■is causing much concern in ■ the United States, owing to the. resultant economic disturbance. It Hindus are allowed to eiiter the Philippines, he freely doubts whethejtihey are not thence able to enter the United States without restriction.

The Commissioner refers to the utter failure of Americanising Hawaii owing to the numbers of Japanese and other aliens there. He recommends that urgent steps be taken for. this purpose. One million Europeans are now yearly entering America, and the number is likely to be largely increased after the war. :*®:'
