Mr Morris Fox, actuary to $he; Government Life Insurance Depasrtrment, is at present in a precariousstate of heaifch.
Mr dunies-Ross, of the Cocos Islands, is at present in Blenheim on a visit to his son, Mr K. CkmiesRoss, of Seddon, and is staying at the Club Hotel. He has recently; arrived from .'-a. trip to the CHd Country.
Some considerable time ago, ifo®Blenheim Borough Council, actuated by the press report, cabled from London of the success achieved at Covent Garden by the well-knowis: soprano, passed a resolution conveying its congratulations to Miss RosinsL Buokman, who is a native of this town. Last night, the CounciS' received from Miss Buckmani a letter, written at London on October 22ndl in which she acknowledged the" felicitations •■'forwarded to her. Having explained that the Council** communication, which was despatched from Covent Garden to the North of England, did not reach her till long after its arrival in. England, sh©' wrote: "I have now to thank the Council for the very kind resolution passed, and I feel honored to kno.w" that they so kindly think of me ancf Watch my career. It is a very great help to nic, and will make ma ambitious to do still better things, so that my. country may be proudf of me."
