ECHO OF THE DEAN MURDERS
[I'kbss Association.]
WELLINGTON, July 8
The Dean .murders of 1895 were repealled by a case heard in Chambers' at the Supreme Cotirt yesterday. Under the will of Colin McLachlan, who died' in 1894,.. certain money was left to a child named Colin Strotillar MdLaohlan, _■ who -is believed to be identical with tihe child known as 13tiroujUar, who was in the custody of Minnie Dean and who: disappeared .about the time certain infants .were inucrdered by her. McLachlan's estate wa6 found insufficient to pay a\Ll the legacies in full, and application was made jn behalf of the surviving legateel? that the amount reserved for the child be ■made available for payment to them. The Chief Justice made the order, d'ecliaring that the gift to the child liad never taken effect, the child having died before the codicil was made. He added, that no doubt the infant ■was murdered by Mrs Dean.
